Kathryn Cook bekroond met Inge Morath Award
The Inge Morath Foundation and Magnum Photos are pleased to announce the recipient of the 2008 Inge Morath Award.
This award of $5000 is given annually to a female documentary photographer under the age of 30, in memory of the late Magnum photographer Inge Morath.
The 2008 winner is Kathryn Cook, American based in Istanbul, for her project “Memory Denied: Turkey and the Armenian Genocide”. Kathryn is represented internationally by Agence VU. Her images can be consulted at: www.krcphoto.com.
The finalists for the 2008 Award are Leonie Purchas (UK) and Alice Smeets (Belgium).
The IM Foundation is also delighted to congratulate Olivia Arthur, the ‘07 recipient of the Inge Morath Award, for her acceptance as a Nominee to Magnum Photos.
Thanks to all who applied for the ‘08 Award. The winner and finalists were selected by the attending members of Magnum Photos on June 26th, 2008 in Paris, at the annual Magnum meeting. Submissions were prepared and presented by the Inge Morath Foundation, which also participated in the selection.
We were pleased to have had the opportunity to look at your photographs, and wish you the best for your future work. All applicants who meet the Award guidelines are encouraged to re-submit their work for consideration in 2009.
